Valmaggiore is a historical, single vineyard from Roero, just 15 miles away from Barolo. Here, with extremely steep exposure, completely different soil, and a slightly cooler climate, Nebbiolo produces a lighter wine, with smooth ripe tannins. The wine shows delicious floral elements and red fruits, wrapped around a medium-weight structure with a long, delicious finish and modulated, ripe tannins.
About The Varietal
Nebbiolo is the prominent grape variety responsible for the high-quality red wines found in northwestern Italy, especially the robust reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. These wines are often characterized by a unique aroma that combines scents of "tar and roses." Nebbiolo wines typically exhibit moderate body, robust tannins, elevated acidity, and are highly sought after, often commanding premium prices.
Enjoy with braised or game meats or herb heavy eggplant.
