2021 Halcon Estate Syrah (Yorkville Highlands, CA) 7R

    95+ Points - Wine Advocate
    95 Points - Antonio Galloni

Intense dark amethyst tones shimmer in the reflection of this exceptional Syrah. The aromatic profile is the epitome of Syrah's essence, showcasing black pepper, violets, and roasted plum in their purest form. There are no traces of new oak influence; instead, the wine brims with mineral-infused fruit, spicy pepper accents, and earthy undertones, seamlessly melding into a delightful Syrah elixir. It exhibits a supple and robust character, supported by velvety tannins with a hint of chocolate that lends depth and substance.

As it unfolds over time, the wine unveils notes of chocolate-dipped cherries, violet confectionery, the freshness of coastal forest air, fig, and a luscious black plum. We firmly believe that this wine has the potential to evolve in bottle and further enhance its qualities over the course of many years, and perhaps even decades.

    About The Varietal

    Syrah

Shiraz and Syrah are interchangeable names for the same dark-skinned grape variety when viewed in terms of DNA. Originating in the Rhône Valley, this grape dominates plantings in the northern section of the valley. The name Shiraz is commonly used in Australia and certain regions of the New World, particularly those with warmer climates. The stylistic differences between Shiraz and Syrah wines are often distinct, contributing to the enduring dual identities of this grape variety.
