    About The Varietal

    Syrah

Shiraz and Syrah are interchangeable names for the same dark-skinned grape variety when viewed in terms of DNA. Originating in the Rhône Valley, this grape dominates plantings in the northern section of the valley. The name Shiraz is commonly used in Australia and certain regions of the New World, particularly those with warmer climates. The stylistic differences between Shiraz and Syrah wines are often distinct, contributing to the enduring dual identities of this grape variety.

    About The Producer

    Helioterra

Growing up in Wisconsin, winemaker Anne Hubatch was always out with nature or in the kitchen with her grandmother. Earning a degree in Geology and Environmental studies led her to Oregon, where she gained hands-on exposure and decade-long winemaking training with some of Oregon’s best winemakers at Hamacher Wines, Adelsheim Vineyard, and Dobbes Family Estate. Inspired by the energy of Oregon’s wine industry, Anne launched her inaugural solo vintage in 2009, marking the beginning of Helioterra Wines. Over the past decade, she has built strong connections with exceptional grape growers across the Pacific Northwest, producing wines that celebrate both the fruit and the growers while embracing various wine styles and types.
