2022 Remi Larroque Gaillacoise PetNat (Gaillac, FR)

Nathalie and Rémi Larroque continue a winemaking legacy dating back to 1540 in Gaillac, cultivating indigenous grapes like PrunelArt and Mauzac. Their Gaillacoise Pétillant Naturel embodies ancient traditions, crafted via méthode ancestrale with a single fermentation capturing the essence of the grape must. Mauzac's slow fermentation process yields charming notes of dried apple peel, culminating in a rustic yet enchanting expression of Gaillac's terroir.

    About The Varietal

    Mauzac

Mauzac is a traditional white grape variety found throughout South West France. While it has been largely supplanted by fashionable Chardonnay, it is used to make still and sparkling wines in the Limoux and Gaillac appellations. Wines made from Mauzac grapes tend to have honeyed, green apple characters, and the variety appears on its own or as part of a blend.
