The Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Viré-Clessé is a recent addition to Dominique Lafon’s portfolio, sourced from 7 hectares of vines formerly belonging to the Château de Viré. Only a select portion of the fruit makes its way into this wine, with the remainder declassified into Mâcon Villages. The vineyard, home to vines up to 75 years old, features a massale selection of the rare Muscat variety of Chardonnay. The nose is elegantly perfumed with sweet, aromatic orchard fruit. In contrast to the stony, mineral-driven Clos du Four, this wine is an expression of pure fruit, offering radiant flavors of golden delicious apple, mirabelle, and peach. Lush and sun-kissed, yet beautifully precise and refined.
