2021 Camins 2 Dreams "Christy and Wise Vineyard" Grenache (Sta. Rita Hills, CA) 6R

    6R

Warmer growing regions, fully ripened grapes, extended barrel-aging add to the wine’s body

The Christy and Wise Vineyard, where this Grenache originates from, is a biodynamic vineyard. Biodynamic farming is a holistic approach that focuses on the health of the soil, plants, and animals, and it aims to create a self-sustaining ecosystem. This sustainable approach often results in wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the terroir. The blend of two clones, Alban and Garnacha, adds complexity to the wine. Each clone brings its own unique flavor profile and characteristics. The Garnacha clone, originating from Spain is known for its intense aromatics and rich fruit flavors, while the Alban clone adds depth and complexity to the blend. The grapes for this vintage was picked at 3 different times during harvest. This practice allows us to capture different ripeness levels and flavors, contributing to the overall complexity and layers of the blend. This wine was aged in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months. This Grenache showcases a deep ruby color with a hint of purple. It entices with aromas of roses, black cherry, orange peel, and spice. On the palate, it is vibrant and bright, with dry tannins that add structure to the wine. The long-lasting finish and gripping tannins suggest that this Grenache has a great aging potential. This Grenache pairs exceptionally well with rich and red meats. Its high acidity helps to cut through the richness of dishes, enhancing the flavors and creating a harmonious pairing. Whether it’s osso buco or tomahawk steaks, this high-acid red wine will enhance the flavors of any dish. One of our classic recommendations is the braised short ribs with root vegetable mash, a dish that complements the wine’s depth and complexity

    About The Varietal

    Grenache

Grenache, also known as Garnacha, is a red wine grape variety extensively cultivated in France, Spain, Australia, and the United States. Its remarkable versatility, both in the vineyard and during the winemaking process, might be the reason for its widespread presence as one of the most widely planted grape varieties across the globe.
