We’ve rounded up some alternatives to crowd favorites that you may not have tried yet–but should!
Crafted amidst the picturesque vineyards of Campania, the 2021 Vigne Sannite Coda di Volpe hails from an area known for its rich winemaking heritage and fertile volcanic soil. This terroir imparts a distinct mineral complexity and a profound sense of place to each sip.
Coda di Volpe is a white wine grape variety primarily grown in Southern Italy, named "tail of the fox" in reference to the grape's long, tapering bunches, resembling a fox's tail. This bottle is characterized by its crisp acidity, bright citrus and green apple flavors. Enjoy floral and herbal undertones complimented by the volcanic soil minerality. This wine is delicious with rich, creamy dishes due to the bright acidity, so enjoy with seafood, cream sauce or a plethora of Italian cuisines!
Rüdger Van Wyk (2018 Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year) graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2013 and became a member of the Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé Program, a mentorship program giving talented young winemakers the opportunity to rub shoulders with giants in the industry. Through this program, Rüdger received mentorship and hands-on experience from Abrie Beeslaar of Kanonkop Wines.
After a harvest in Burgundy, Rüdger became the assistant winemaker at Stark-Condé wines, working closely with José Conde. Now head winemaker for Stark-Conde, Rüdger is also the owner of UG Favorite, Kara-Tara Wines, the name referring to the small town on the Cape South Coast of South Africa, where Rüdger grew up.
