2017 Ruelas Vinho Branco Superior (Vinho Verde, PT) *1W*
Vinho Verde is a Portugese wine that comes from the cool region of Minho. The name translates to green wine, but refers to the wine’s youthfulness more than its color. These zippy, low-alcohol wines are the epitome of what we refer to as “Porch Pounders,” wines that can pair with food but are a-ok on their own. If “Easy Like Sunday Morning” was a wine, it would be this wine.
2016 Cantina Cellar Bacaro Grillo (Sicily, IT) *5W*
Italy completely shuts down for one month every summer, so you can trust the Italians to know what they are doing when it comes to Beach Wine. This Sicilian stunner is made from the Grillo, one of our favorites to sip during the summer months. Appealing medium body means it pairs well with food (grab some bluefish paté from your local fish store), while a hint of salinity makes it a perfect pairing with the ocean air.
2017 Cantina Santa Maria La Palma Alghero “Aragosta” Rosé (Alghero, IT)
The name of this Italian rosé translates to lobster, so if you’re wondering what to pair it with, look no further than the label, featuring its namesake bright red crustacean! Perfect for sunset dinners on the beach, clam bakes, and anything else that dictates a little sand in your dinner. The winemakers ask that you drink this fresh and lively rosé in the current vintage, and we say no time like the present.
2017 La Plage Rosé du Var (La Vidaubanaise, FR)
Nothing says beach theme like a Provençal rosé literally named for the beach. There’s a reason rosés from Provence are the gold standard - with their trademark palate of watermelon and cherries, and refreshing minerality, they appeal to almost everyone and are wonderful food wines. This bottle won’t last long once it’s opened, so you better pack a back up!
