*7R* 2017 Domaine Georges Vernay "Maison Rouge" Côte-Rôtie (Rhone Valley, FR)

Derived from mature Syrah vineyards in the Maison Rouge area, this Syrah boasts a captivating blend of dark fruits, exotic spices, smoky nuances, licorice, cigar box, chocolate, and dark pepper. Its unmistakable class is evident in the structured and perfectly balanced character, while harmoniously combining fruit and mesmerizing spiciness. While the tannins are assertive, expert vinification imparts an exceptionally silky and velvety mouthfeel, enhancing its overall appeal.

    About The Varietal

    Syrah

Shiraz and Syrah are interchangeable names for the same dark-skinned grape variety when viewed in terms of DNA. Originating in the Rhône Valley, this grape dominates plantings in the northern section of the valley. The name Shiraz is commonly used in Australia and certain regions of the New World, particularly those with warmer climates. The stylistic differences between Shiraz and Syrah wines are often distinct, contributing to the enduring dual identities of this grape variety.
