Launched in 1993, the DoubleWood spends at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels, and then another 9 months in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, after which it's transferred to another large oak vessel for 3-4 months to let the flavors integrate.
The resulting profile is gorgeous: sweet fruit, raisiny sherry notes, and honey are layered on the nose. On the palate, this Scotch is smooth and mellow with a nutty sweetness and hints of cinnamon and sherry.
