Torbreck has created exceptional Rhone style wines from the best vineyards in Barossa Valley since 1994. Many of the vines planted in the Barossa Valley date back to the 1840s when Rhone varieties, such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre, were brought to the region from Europe. Torbreck pays tribute to the Rhone and these unique vineyard sites with minimal intervention winemaking in Barossa Valley, which they think is “the most exciting place to make wine in the world.”
The “Woodcutter” Shiraz reflects the up and coming Shiraz vineyards of the Barossa Valley. This bottle pays tribute to owner David Powell’s time working as a lumberjack in Scotland, and is something “you’d imagine a high country woodcutter might like at days end - rich, warming, full bodied & affordable.” This wine is dark and full of concentrated fruit like black cassis and blackberry mingling with smoke and bacon. The rich flavors and soft, velvety tannins make this the perfect pairing for burgers, ribs or steak.
