From a trend-defying, old vine plot of Zinfandel going back to the 1870s, this wine is utterly remarkable! Turns out old vine Zin, when properly handled tastes a lot like aged Châteauneuf du Pape. Explosive aromas of baking spice, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, candied cherry, cranberry, leather, lacquer, and essence of orange dominate the nose, while the palate is spicy, silky, shockingly lifted, and very compelling. Lush red fruit comes through strong, with notions like Amarone or old Châteauneuf. Incredible juice!
