Secco-Bertani, in production for 150 years, is an iconic Veronese wine. For the 2015 vintage, the winemaker retrieved the original recipe --the document was on file at the Veronese Agriculture and Industry Ministry Library. Along with the original Corvina grape clones, Bertani re-created the original winery equipment, aging vessels, and even the 1930's-era labels, to open a faithful window into the version of a vintage that introduced Veneto wine to the rest of the world.
Is this wine delicious because it is fascinating, or is it fascinating because it is delicious? Our answer is: "BOTH!!" (but we also think you should try some for yourself).
