The Franco Pacenti estate represents three generations of winemaking in Montalcino; the first vintage of Brunello was produced in 1966, but the family traces its lineage in Tuscany back to the 1300s. Their 2016 Brunello is brooding and concentrated, with layers of black cherry and violet aromas and earth, tobacco, and licorice notes balancing out the dark fruit on the palate. For the price point, this is a remarkable value in Brunello from a vintage that is being hailed as one of the best of the century.

    About The Varietal

    Sangiovese Grosso

Sangiovese Grosso, employed in crafting traditionally robust and slowly maturing red wines, is notably featured in the renowned Brunello di Montalcino, considered superior to other Sangiovese variants. This grape variety is characterized by a slow and late ripening process, resulting in the production of rich, high alcohol, and long-lived wines.
