This is the first Kerner we've carried in some time, and we picked it because it's absolutely delicious. Intense aromatics of white flowers, citrus, and ocean-like salinity greet your nose. On the palate, the wine is fresh and vibrant with stone fruit flavors of underripe peach and nectarine. Delicious and complex, this is somewhat reminiscent of a dry Gewurtztraminer.
About The Varietal
The Kerner grape is an aromatic white grape variety, created in 1929 through a crossbreeding of Trollinger and Riesling by August Herold. Despite its parentage that includes a red grape, Kerner is predominantly a white grape with light green berries, and it exhibits notable Riesling-like qualities.
