Moe Momtazi was born and raised in Tehran where he watched his father make wine in their basement, before he fled Iran as a refugee in 1983, got a degree in engineering from the University of Texas, and eventually purchased his first vineyards in Oregon in 1997. Now, Moe and his winemaker wife, Flora, are growing high-quality fruit and producing world-class wines. This Pinot Noir is an excellent example, with notes of fresh earth, dried leaves, cracked pepper, and juicy black cherries.

    About The Producer

    Maysara

The Momtazi family, Iranian immigrants, is the driving force behind Maysara Winery in McMinnville, Oregon. Moe Momtazi, along with his wife Flora and their daughters, collectively manages the winery. All three Momtazi daughters play integral roles in the family business: Tahmiene serves as the winemaker, achieving recognition as the 14th position on Wine Spectator's top 100 list in her second year on the job. Naseem oversees national and international sales, while Hanna manages events and hospitality. Notably, Maysara is an ancient Persian term signifying "winery."
