Youthful and fresh, this red wine made from the Galician grape varietal Mencía is fantastic for spring! Showing notes of dark cherry fruit, raspberry, cacao powder, balsamic, and a long, minerally finish. This wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and is actually aged in a 2nd century cave called "La Mina", which imparts the unique mineral component to this wine. This is a wine that loves roasted fish and even a slight chill!
About The Varietal
Mencia is a red wine grape that is native to northwest Spain and is synonymous with the red wines of Bierzo. It has experienced a revival in recent decades after producing light and astringent wines for many years.
Enjoy with grilled salmon or tuna, salty appetizers, or pizza night.
