Gigondas, often referred to as “poor man’s Chateauneuf” really deserves to be held in higher standing, and this wine exemplifies why that’s the case. Earthy notes of forest floor, funk, and herbs combine with bright red fruit, floral notes, and minerality. Elegant and structured, this wine could be an excellent addition to your cellar, but is drinking beautifully now!
About The Varietal
The traditional and robust blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre is typically linked to the southern Rhone, notably in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. However, exceptional wines with this blend are also crafted in the New World, with Australia and California standing out as regions that produce highly praised examples.
Enjoy with charred vegetables, bolognese, or a hearty clam bake.
