Warmer growing regions, fully ripened grapes, extended barrel-aging add to the wine’s body
The Domaine du Castel Grand Vin is an exquisite blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, originating from vineyards perched 2,400 feet above sea level near Jerusalem. With vine density set at 6,700 per hectare, these vineyards yield small yet concentrated fruit. Handpicked grapes undergo gentle fermentation, followed by 16 months of maturation in French oak barrels. This wine reveals an array of flavors, from ripe red cherries and plush Merlot-driven berries to earthy truffle and cassis, all interwoven with notes of vanilla and subtle spices from the oak. Its velvety texture and enduring finish make it a true masterpiece, a testament to both terroir and craftsmanship, promising further evolution with time.
About The Varietal
A red Bordeaux blend primarily consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, supplemented by smaller amounts of Malbec and Petit Verdot, with Carmenere occasionally included. While the term naturally applies to red wines from Bordeaux, it is also suitable for wines produced beyond the region, such as those from California, Washington, Argentina, and other locations.
Enjoy with charred vegetables, bolognese, or a hearty clam bake.
