A small amount of the fruit for this wine is left to hang on the vine until it turns to raisins. This evaporates some water and really concentrates the flavors and sugars, so the wine is very full-bodied and intense as a result. Inky in color, the wine is smooth and round on the palate with stewed fruit and jammy flavors and a long, almost sweet finish. Seriously yummy, this wine should be paired with pot roast.

    About The Varietal

    Primitivo

Primitivo, a dark-skinned grape, is renowned for yielding inky and tannic wines, notably exemplified in Primitivo di Manduria and its naturally sweet Dolce Naturale version. While debates about its historical origins persist, there is little doubt that Primitivo has found its contemporary home in southern Italy, particularly in the region of Puglia.
