With “Vine from all over Georgia” as Marnaveli’s mantra, they search for and collect the best grapes in the country. With a winemaking history of over 8,000 years, it is no wonder Georgia has some of the oldest and rarest varieties - which Marnaveli cultivates to make their truly "Georgian" wines. Utilizing a combination of age-old techniques with new, state-of-the-art equipment, Marnaveli brings a new flair to old classics.
Saperavi, meaning “dye” in Georgian, is an ancient, indigenous grape that pours a beautiful dark cherry color. With long aging in oak casks, this wine shows intense black fruit, blackberry, vanilla, and oak notes. The palate is rich and fruit-forward making this the perfect bottle for grilled meats, bitter chocolate, or a winter chili
About The Varietal
Saperavi is a dark-skinned grape variety with pink flesh, originating from the Georgian Republic. Its name is particularly fitting, as "saperavi" in the Georgian language means "dye," which is apt for this teinturier variety.
