*7R* 2020 Kumusha "Hurudza" Red Blend (Western Cape, SA)

Kumusha's excellent wines are made by world-renowned sommelier Tinashe Nyamudoka, whose explosive career in the South African hospitality scene ultimately led him to create his own brand. "Kumusha" is a Shona word meaning "your home," "your roots," or "your origin" and is a callback to his home country of Zimbabwe. The name of this wine "Hurudza" means one who has mastered farming, representing the excellent harvest that brought this wine to fruition. A well structured Cabernet Sauvignon heavy red blend, the wine has distinct notes of blackcurrant and plum, followed by herbaceous notes and bell pepper. Fine grained tannins are underpinned with vibrant acidity and a smooth finish. Fantastic now, the wine will reach new heights with a few years of cellaring.

    About The Varietal

    Bordeaux Blend

A red Bordeaux blend primarily consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, supplemented by smaller amounts of Malbec and Petit Verdot, with Carmenere occasionally included. While the term naturally applies to red wines from Bordeaux, it is also suitable for wines produced beyond the region, such as those from California, Washington, Argentina, and other locations.

    About The Producer

    Kumusha

Originally from Zimbabwe, Kumusha founder Tinashe Nyumudoka moved to South Africa where he began his journey in the wine industry. From waiter to head sommelier of Africa's highest acclaimed restaurant, The Test Kitchen, Nyumudoka decided to try his own hand at winemaking in 2017 when he first launched Kumusha with help of friend Attie Louw, a windemaker from the Opstal family estate in Slanghoek valley. From our first sip of Kumusha Sauvignon Blanc, we fell in love and instantly knew these would become staple bottles on our shelves.
