Warmer growing regions, fully ripened grapes, extended barrel-aging add to the wine’s body
95 Points, Decanter
2018 was an excellent vintage for Chateau Lassegue thanks to their 50+ year old vines and the freshness from the limestone soils. The richness of the Merlot shines forth in the aromatics complimented by the spiciness of the Cabernet Franc. The palate is exploding withs silky red and black fruit and rounded tannins. The wine shows freshness, complexity and power and would be a great compliment to any dinner table as well as a great addition to any cellar.
About The Varietal
A red Bordeaux blend primarily consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, supplemented by smaller amounts of Malbec and Petit Verdot, with Carmenere occasionally included. While the term naturally applies to red wines from Bordeaux, it is also suitable for wines produced beyond the region, such as those from California, Washington, Argentina, and other locations.
Enjoy with charred vegetables, bolognese, or a hearty clam bake.
