The inaugural vines planted at Scribe were Sylvaner, taken from cuttings that date back to 1858. The "Ode to Emil" is an homage to the first German immigrant to plant and cultivate Sylvaner in California. This wine is laser sharp, fresh and bright (as the original Emil would likely have intended)! Notes of nectarine, acacia, and melon blossom are braced by a distinct minerality. Limited intervention during vinification keeps this a pure expression of Sonona terroir.
About The Varietal
Sylvaner, also known as Silvaner, is a white wine grape variety primarily grown in Alsace and Germany. In Germany, it is officially referred to as Grüner Silvaner.
Enjoy with spring vegetables, soft cheeses, or aromatic herbs and delicate spices.
